FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL  430 PM EDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS......

...FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR THE CHRISTINA RIVER IN NEW CASTLE COUNTY
UNTIL 4PM EDT...
 
A FLASH FLOOD WARNING AS BEEN ISSUED FOR THE CHRISTINA RIVER BY THE
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN WILMINGTON DELAWARE.  THE RIVER GAGE AT
COOCHES BRIDGES ALONG THE CHRISTINA RIVER AT 10 AM INDICATED A READING
OF 8.60 FEET WHICH IS .40 FEET BELOW FLOOD STAGE.  FLOOD STAGE AT
COOCHES BRIDGE ALONG THE CHRISTINA RIVER IS 9.0 FEET.
 
THE CHRISTINA RIVER SHOULD CONTINUE TO RISE THROUGH EARLY AFTERNOON AS
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RADAR INIDICATES MORE STEADY TO HEAVY RAIN
MOVING TOWARD NEW CASTLE COUNTY.  THE RAIN TODAY MAY ALSO CAUSE SOME
MINOR FLOODING OF ROADWAYS INCLUDING UNDERPASSES.  THE RAINS MAY CAUSE
SOME SMALL STREAMS ACROSS NEW CASTLE COUNTY TO OVERFLOW.
 
A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR IS
IMMINENT.  MOST FLASH FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES.  DO NOT
ATTEMPT TO CROSS BRIDGES...DIPS...OR LOW SPOTS IF WATER COVERS
THE ROADWAY.  NEVER TRY TO CROSS A FLOWING STREAM...EVEN A SMALL
ONE...ON FOOT.  TO ESCAPE RISING WATER MOVE UP TO HIGHER GROUND.
