THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN WILMINGTON HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL  900 PM EDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS......
 
IN NORTH DELAWARE
 
   ...NEW CASTLE COUNTY
 
OVER 2 INCHES OF RAIN HAS FALLEN SINCE IT BEGAN EARLY THIS MORNING.
ONE HEAVY DOWNPOUR BETWEEN 2PM AND 3PM DROPPED NEAR 3/4S INCHES /0.69/
AT THE NEW CASTLE COUNTY AIRPORT AND OVER THE RIVER BASIN. THE
DELAWARE GEOLOGICAL SURVEY REPORTED THAT THE CHRISTINA WAS FLOODING
AND WAS OVER BANKFUL. THE WHITE CLAY...RED CLAY AND BRANDYWINE WERE
STILL WELL WITHIN BANKS. PERSONS ALONG THE CHRITINA IN AREAS PRONE TO
FLOODING SHOULD TAKE PRECAUTIONS. THE CHRISTINA SHOULD CONTINUE TO
RISE FOR THE NEXT COUPLE HOURS BEFORE LEVELING OFF DURING THE EVENING.
 
DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY.  THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO
CROSS SAFELY.  VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE
ABANDONED QUICKLY.  MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
