PATCHY DENSE FOG WAS REDUCING THE VISIBILITY OVER GALVESTON AND
CHAMBERS COUNTIES AND THE ADJACENT COASTAL WATER FROM NEAR ZERO TO 1
MILE. AT 750 AM THE VISIBILITY IN DOWNTOWN GALVESTON WAS 1/8 OF A
MILE.

THE FOG WILL CONTINUE UNTIL MID MORNING THEN CONDITIONS WILL IMPROVE.

MOTORISTS ARE URGED TO USE EXTREME CARE ON THE HIGHWAYS BY SLOWING
DOWN WHEN APPROACHING DENSER FOG PATCHES AND USING LOW BEAM
HEADLIGHTS AND/OR FLASHERS.

MARINERS WITHOUT NAVIGATIONAL AIDS SHOUlLD REMAIN IN PORT UNTIL THE
VISIBILITY IMPROVES.

                      TO SEVERAL HOMES AND BUSINESSES.

1100 AM   FORT BEND   THREE INCHES OF RAIN IN ONE HOUR REPORTED BY
                      THE MAYOR OF SIMONTON IN NORTHWEST FORT BEND
                      COUNTY.  CLAIMED THAT HE NEVER HAD SEEN THAT
                      MUCH WATER IN HIS FRONT YARD.

1200 PM   HARRIS      ONE TO TWO INCH RAINFALL PER HOUR REPORTED BY
                      SEVERAL OBSERVERS...MAINLY FROM SOUTHWEST TO
                      NORTHEAST SECTIONS OF THE COUNTY.  ROADS BECAME
                      IMPASSABLE DUE TO FLOODING OF BAYOUS.  ALL BUT
                      TWO ROADS LEADING OUT OF THE CITY OF HOUSTON
                      BECAME CLOSED WITHIN AN HOUR.  LARGE NUMBER OF
                      HOMES AND BUSINESSES NEAR BAYOUS FLOODED.  STORM
                      TOTALS OF FOUR TO EIGHT INCHES WERE COMMON ACROSS
                      THE CENTRAL PART OF THE COUNTY WITH ISOLATED AMOUNTS
                      OF OVER NINE INCHES IN SOME LOCATIONS.

100  PM   LIBERTY     ONE TO TWO INCH PER HOUR RAINFALL RATES MOVED INTO
                      NORTHERN SECTIONS OF THE COUNTY.  IN EXCESS OF FIVE

A SMALL THUNDERSTORM WAS OVER THE WEST END OF GALVESTON ISLAND AND
WAS MOVING NORTHEAST AT 30 MILES AN HOUR. THIS THUNDERSTORM WAS
PRODUCING UP TO 1/2 INCH HAIL AND HEAVY RAIN.

THE THUNDERSTORM WILL PASS OVER THE ISLAND BY 1000 AM A ND ENTER THE
NORTHERN GULF.

MARINERS SHOULD SEEK A SAFE HARBOR.
