 1105 AM EDT TUE JUN 9 1992

AT 1100 AM EDT WEATHER SERVICE RADAR INDICATED AN AREA OF SHOWERS
AND POSSIBLY THUNDERSTORMS LOCATED OVER THE WEST CENTRAL HIGHLANDS
OF VIRGINIA. THE HEAVIEST RAIN WAS FALLING OVER THE COUNTY OF
HIGHLAND IN THE VICINITY OF MONTEREY. RAINFALL REPORTS INDICATED
OVER AN INCH (1.18) OF RAIN FELL IN HALF AN HOUR. THE RAINFALL
INTENSITY HAS DECREASED BUT MORE HEAVY SHOWERS ARE A REAL POSSIBILITY.
FLASH FLOODING CAN OCCUR WITH ADDITIONAL HEAVY RAIN FALLING ON GROUNDS
SATURATED FROM PREVIOUS RAIN. PERSONS NEAR CREEKS AND SMALL STREAMS
SHOULD STAY ALERT TO THE POSSIBILITY OF RAPIDLY RISING WATER. USE
CAUTION ESPECIALLY IN AREAS PRONE TO FLOODING. ADDITIONAL SHOWERS AND
POSSIBLE THUNDERSTOMS ARE EXPECTED THIS AFTERNOON.
