THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN ALBUQUERQUE HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL  945 AM MDT
FOR PEOPLE...
 
IN SOUTHEAST NEW MEXICO
 
   ...CHAVES COUNTY
 
AT 730 AM MDT THE ROSWELL AIRPORT REPORTED THAT AN ADDITIONAL
ONE INCH OF RAIN HAD FALLEN DURING THE PAST HOURS. SINCE MIDNIGHT
OVER TWO INCHES OF RAIN HAS FALLEN IN THE ROSWELL AREA.  THE PUBLIC
REPORTED STREET FLOODING AND SOME STALLED MOTORIST IN THE NORTH PART
OF TOWN.  THE ROSWELL POLICE ALSO REPORTED THAN PORTIONS OF MAIN
STREET WERE FLOODING AND TRAVEL WAS DISCOURAGED.
 
RADAR AND SATELLITE CONTINUE TO SHOW AN AREA OF RAIN FROM THE ROSWELL
AREA NORTHWARD INTO THE NORTHEASTERN PLAINS.  THIS AREA WAS MOVING TO
THE SOUTH AT ABOUT 10 MPH AND WILL BE MOVING ACROSS THE ROSWELL AREA
FOR THE NEXT SEVERAL HOURS.
 
MOST DEATHS IN FLASH FLOODING OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES.  DO NOT
ATTEMPT TO CROSS BRIDGES...DIPS...OR LOW SPOTS IF WATER COVERS
THE ROADWAY.  NEVER TRY TO CROSS A FLOWING STREAM...EVEN A
SMALL ONE...ON FOOT.
