FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 1000 PM MDT
FOR PEOPLE...
 
IN SOUTHEAST NEW MEXICO
 
   ...SOUTHERN EDDY COUNTY
 
THE WEATHER OBSERVER AT CARLSBAD AIRPORT REPORTED .60 INCHES OF RAIN
FELL IN AN 11 MINUTE PERIOD WITH THE RAIN STILL COMING DOWN IN SHEETS.
ANOTHER OBSERVER 5 MILES WEST OF THE AIRPORT REPORTED AN INCH OF RAIN
AND WATER RUNNING IN THE ARROYO. SOME STREETS HAD ALREADY BEGUN TO
FLOOD. RADAR AND SATELLITE PHOTOS CONTINUE TO SHOW THUNDERSTORMS SOUTH
OF CARLSBAD MOVING TOWARDS THE NORTHEAST AT AROUND 10 MPH.
 
PERSONS IN SOUTHERN EDDY COUNTY AND IN POARTICULAR CARLSBAD AND WHITE
CITY SHOULD BE ALERT TO THE POSSIBILITY OF RAPIDLY RISING WATERS AND
ARROYO FLOODING.
 
BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE
THE DANGERS OF FLOODS AND FLASH FLOODS.  IF FLASH FLOODING IS
OBSERVED...ACT QUICKLY.  MOVE UP TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS.  DO
NOT STAY IN AREAS SUBJECT TO FLOODING WHEN WATER BEGINS RISING.
