A TORNADO WATCH IS IN EFFECT FOR THE WESTERN AND CENTRAL COUNTIES OF THE SOUTH PLAINS UNTIL 11 PM CDT. AT 500 PM NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RADAR INDICATED A STRONG THUNDERSTORM OVER SOUTHWEST HALE COUNTY...ABOUT 8 MILES SOUTHWEST OF HALE CENTER. MOVEMENT WAS NORTHEAST AT 20 MPH. OTHER THUNDERSTORMS WERE SCATTERED TO THE WEST OF LUBBOCK...ACROSS EASTERN HOCKLEY AND WESTERN LUBBOCK COUNTIES. AS OF 505 PM NO SEVERE WEATHER WAS INDICATED IN ANY OF THESE THUNDERSTORMS.
