SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT AND RADAR SUMMARY
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE JACKSON MS
230 PM CST MON FEB 18 1991

AT 225PM A LARGE AREA OF RAIN WITH EMBEDDED THUNDERSTORMS COVERED
MOST OF MISSISSIPPI WEST OF A MERIDIAN TO BROOKHAVEN TO NATCHEZ
LINE AND EXTENDED INTO LOUISIANA AND ARKANSAS. THE STRONGEST THUNDER-
STORM IN THIS AREA WITH VERY HEAVY RAINFALL WAS ABOUT 10 MILES SOUTH OF
PORT GIBSON MOVING NORTHEAST AT 40 MILES AN HOUR.

THE RAINFALL INTENSITIES HAVE BEEN STEADILY INCREASING OVER WEST AND
NORTH MISSISSIPPI SO LOCAL URBAN AND STREET FLOODING IS LIKELY WITH
THE HEAVIER BURSTS OF RAIN FOR THE NEXT SEVERAL HOURS. IN FACT SOME FLASH
FLOOD WARNINGS MAY BE NEEDED FOR A FEW LOWER DELTA COUNTIES SHORTLY.

ALONG WITH THE HEAVY RAIN...GUSTY WINDS AND LIGHTNING WILL LIKELY
DEVELOP WITH THESE THUNDERSTORMS. BY LATER THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING
THERE WILL BE A THRNEAT FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS SO RESIDENTS SHOULD
KEEP ADVISED OF THE LATEST WEATHER INFORMATION.
