NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE ATLANTA  GA
245 PM EDT THU JUL 4 1991

...THUNDERSTORMS WERE MOVING INTO THE ATLANTA METRO AREA...

AT 240 PM EDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RADAR IN ATLANTA WAS SHOWING A
BAND OF STRONG THUNDERSTORMS STRETCHING FROM JUST SOUTH LAKE LANIER THROUGH
ROSWELL AND SOUTH THROUGH DOUGLASVILLE AND NEWNAN.  THE THUNDERSTORMS
WERE MOVING EAST AT 20 MPH AND SHOULD MOVE INTO THE ATLANTA METRO AREA
DURING THE NEXT HOUR.

THESE THUNDERSTORMS WILL PRODUCED DANGEROUS LIGHTNING.  REMEMBER MANY
PEOPLE ARE KILLED EACH YEAR BY LIGHTNING.  IF YOU ARE OUTSIDE SEEK SAFETY
INSIDE A BUILDING.  STAY AWAY FROM OPEN WATER WHEN THUNDERSTORMS ARE NEAR.

OTHER STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WERE LOCATED BETWEEN ROME AND DAWSONVILLE
IN NORTHWEST GEORGIA.

335 PM EDT THUR JUL 4 1991

AT 330 PM EDT THUNDERSTORMS...SOME WITH VERY HEAVY RAINFALL...WERE
OCCURRING OVER NORTH GEORGIA AND NORTHERN SOUTH CAROLINA. THE
THUNDERSTORMS WITH THE HEAVIEST RAINFALL WERE JUST NORTH OF ATLANTA
...JUST SOUTHEAST OF ROYSTON IN ELBERT COUNTY AND JUST SOUTH
OF TOCCOA IN STEPHENS COUNTY.  THE STORMS WERE MOVING EAST AT
22 MILES AN HOUR.

PERSONS IN STEPHENS...FRANKLIN...HART...AND ELBERT COUNTIES OF
NORTHEAST GEORGIA SHOULD BE ON THE ALERT FOR THREATENING WEATHER
CONDITIONS FOR THE NEXT COUPLE OF HOURS./

BRIEF HEAVY DOWNPOURS...DANGEROUS CLOUD TO GROUND LIGHTNING AND
GUSTY SURFACE WINDS ARE POSSIBLE WITH THESE STORMS.
