...SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH NUMBER 218 REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR PARTS OF
WEST GEORGIA UNTIL 6 PM EDT THIS EVENING...

AT 125 PM EDT RADAR SHOWED ONLY ISOLATED SHOWERS OVER NORTHWEST
GEORGIA. HOWEVER A LARGE AREA OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WERE
INDICATED IN ALABAMA MOVING TOWARD GEORGIA. THE STRONGEST
THUNDERSTORMS WERE IN A LINE EXTENDING FROM JUST EAST OF HUNTSVILLE
ALABAMA SOUTH THROUGH THE BIRMINGHAM AREA. THIS LINE OF THUNDERSTORMS
WAS MOVING EAST AT ABOUT 35 MILES AN HOUR. THERE HAVE BEEN REPORTS OF
STRONG WINDS AND HAIL IN ALABAMA WITH THESE STORMS.

THESE THUNDERSTORMS WILL LIKELY MOVE ACROSS THE BORDER INTO NORTHWEST
GEORGIA BETWEEN 3 AND 4 PM THIS AFTERNOON. HOWEVER OTHER THUNDERSTORMS
COULD DEVELOP IN NORTHWEST GEORGIA IN ADVANCE OF THIS LINE.

PEOPLE IN NORTHWEST GEORGIA SHOULD CONTINUE TO BE ALERT TO CHANGING
WEATHER CONDITIONS THIS AFTERNOON AND BE PREPARED TO MOVE TO A PLACE

A 300 PM EDT RADAR INDICATED A LINE OF VERY STRONG THUNDERSTORMS FROM
THE NORTHEAST CORNER OF ALABAMA SOUTH TO NEAR ANNISTON ALABAMA TO JUST
NORTHWEST OF MONTGOMERY ALABAMA. THIS LINE CONTINUED TO MOVE EAST AT
ABOUT 3O MILES AN HOUR. WIDELY SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS HAVE ALSO
FORMED DURING THE PAST HOUR IN NORTHWEST GEORGIA IN THE ROME AND
SUMMERVILLE VICINITIES.

THE LINE OF THUNDERSTORMS IN ALABAMA WILL BE MOVING INTO NORTHWEST
GEORGIA DURING THE NEXT HOUR. BRIEF HEAVY RAIN...STRONG GUSTY WINDS...
INTENSE CLOUD TO GROUND LIGHTNING...AND HAIL COULD ACCOMPANY SOME OF
THE THUNDERSTORMS IN THIS LINE.

BETWEEN 3 AND 4 PM CDT THIS AFTERNOON. OTHER THUNDERSTORMS COULD
