THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN CHATTANOOGA TENNESSEE HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 1130 PM EDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS
 
IN SOUTHEAST TENNESSEE
 
   ...HAMILTON COUNTY
 
THUNDERSTORMS WITH VERY HEAVY RAIN HAVE PERSISTED OVER MOST OF
HAMILTON COUNTY THE PAST FEW HOURS. THESE THUNDERSTORMS ARE NEARLY
STATIONARY AND WILL CONTINUE TO PRODUCE VERY HEAVY RAIN THE NEXT FEW
HOURS WHICH WILL LIKELY PRODUCE SOME FLASH FLOODING.
 
THE HEAVIEST RAINS HAVE OCCURRED OVER THE WESTERN SECTIONS OF THE
COUNTY ALONG THE EASTERN SLOPES OF WALDENS RIDGE AND RAINFALL AMOUNTS
IN EXCESS OF FIVE INCHES HAVE BEEN REPORTED BY SPOTTERS.
 
 
BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE
THE DANGERS OF FLOODS AND FLASH FLOODS.  IF FLASH FLOODING IS
OBSERVED...ACT QUICKLY.  MOVE UP TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS.  DO
NOT STAY IN AREAS SUBJECT TO FLOODING WHEN WATER BEGINS RISING.
 
DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY.  THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO
CRO)SS SAFELY.  VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE
ABANDONED QUICKLY.  MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
