IN SOUTH CENTRAL TEXAS ...BASTROP COUNTY AT 550 PM THE DPS AND SHERRIFS OFFICE RELAYED REPORT OF A TORNADO ON THE GROUND NEAR THE CITY OF ROSANSKY MOVING NORTHEAST AT 25 MPH. PERSONS NEAR THIS AREA SHOULD TAKE SHELTER NOW. IF YOU ARE IN THE PATH OF A TORNADO...THE SAFEST PLACE IS A BASEMENT. GET UNDER A WORKBENCH OR PIECE OF STURDY FURNITURE. TXZ036-038>041-150300- SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SAN ANTONIO, TX 515 PM CST MON JAN 14 1991 ...TORNADO WATCH IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM TONIGHT FOR MUCH OF SOUTH CENTRAL AND SOUTHEAST TEXAS... THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A TORNADO WATCH VALID UNTIL 11 PM TONIGHT FOR AN AREA FROM NEAR COLLEGE STATION TO AUSTIN TO HONDO TO TILDEN TO CORPUS CHRISTI AND EASTWARD INTO SOUTHEAST TEXAS. INCLUDED IN THE SOUTH CENTRAL TEXAS PORTION OF THE WATCH ARE THE ABOVE CITIES AS WELL AS THE SAN ANTONIO METROPOLITAN AREA. THE THREAT OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS HAS DEVELOPED AS STRONG LOW LEVEL WINDS FROM THE GULF HAVE CONTINUED TO BRING VERY WARM AIR AND PLENTY OF MOISTURE INTO SOUTH CENTRAL AND SOUTHEAST TEXAS. THIS WARM...MOIST AIR WILL SERVE AS THE FUEL FOR THE THUNDERSTORMS. THE FEATURE THAT WILL CAUSE THE THUNDERSTORMS TO DEVELOP IS AN UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE CURRENTLY LOCATED NEAR IN SOUTHEAST NEW MEXICO. IT WILL MOVE SLOWLY SOUTHEASTWARD TONIGHT IN THE DIRECTION OF SOUTH TEXAS. A COLD FRONT THAT IS ASSOCIATED WITH THE DISTURBANCE WILL MOVE INTO SOUTH CENTRAL TEXAS TONIGHT AND INTO SOUTHEAST AND DEEP SOUTH TEXAS TUESDAY MORNING. AS THIS FRONT CROSSES THE AREA...THE THREAT OF SEVERE WEATHER WILL END. SOUTH CENTRAL TEXANS SHOULD MONITOR A RELIABLE SOURCE OF WEATHER INFORMATION THROUGH THIS EVENING WHILE THE THREAT OF SEVERE STORMS EXISTS.
