FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 800 PM CDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION...
 
IN CENTRAL IOWA
 
   ...EASTERN DALLAS COUNTY
 
AT 505 PM...A RAINFALL OBSERVER REPORTED THAT OVER 4 INCHES OF RAIN FELL
IN DALLAS CENTER BETWEEN 3 AND 5 PM. THIS WILL UNDOUBTEDLY PRODUCE
FLOODING THROUGHOUT EASTERN SECTIONS OF DALLAS COUNTY...ESPECIALLY THOSE
AREAS ALONG THE WALNUT CREEK BASIN.
 
THESE RAINS ARE VERY LOCALLIZED...WHICH WILL CAUSE SERIOUS FLOODING
PROBLEMS IN VERY SMALL AREAS.  PEOPLE LEAVING WORK THIS EVENING SHOULD BEXTREMELY CAREFUL DRIVING ON RURAL ROADS AND BRIDGES.  REMEMBER...DO NOT
ATTEMPT TO CROSS ROADS OR BRIDGES THAT ARE OVERTOPPED BY FLOOD WATERS.
 
AT WAUKEE...THE CREEK HAD RISEN RAPIDLY AND WAS NEAR BANKFULL AT 5 PM.
ONLY ANOTHER FOOT AND ONE-HALF RISE WILL CAUSE FLOODING IN THE WAUKEE
AREA.
 
IN ADDITION...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING CONTINUES FOR THE WALNUT CREEK
BASIN...IN WESTERN SECTIONS OF THE DES MOINES AREA.
 
MOST DEATHS IN FLASH FLOODING OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES.  DO NOT
ATTEMPT TO CROSS BRIDGES...DIPS...OR LOW SPOTS IF WATER COVERS
THE ROADWAY.  NEVER TRY TO CROSS A FLOWING STREAM...EVEN A
SMALL ONE...ON FOOT.
