SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AND FLASH FLOOD WARNING 
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TUCSON AZ
1036 PM MST SUN JUL 22 1990

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM 
AND FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 1245 AM MST FOR PEOPLE 
IN THE FOLLOWING COUNTY

   IN THE SOUTH CENTRAL PART OF ARIZONA
      EXTREME EASTERN PIMA

AT (1026MST )HEAVY RAINFALL WITH VERY STRONG WINDS WERE REPORTED
BY THE PIMA COUNTY SHERIFFS OFFICE.  THE AGUA CALIENTE WASH IS
RUNNING AND THE TANQUE VERDE WASH IS EXPECTED TO FILL SHORTLY.
WINDS WERE ESTIMATED BY EMERGENCY PERSONEL TO BE IN EXCESS OF 55
MPH.

IF YOU ARE IN AN AREA THREATENED BY THE STORM..GO TO A REINFORCED
SHELTER AND PREPARE FOR DAMAGING WIND...LARGE HAIL...VERY HEAVY
RAIN AND LIGHTNING.

THIS SLOW MOVING THUNDERSTORM MAY CAUSE FLOODING OF WASHES...SMALL
STREAMS...UNDERPASSES AND HIGHWAY DIPS.

INTENSE LIGHTNING IS REPORTED WITH THIS STORM.  IF OUTDOORS...
STAY AWAY FROM HIGH OBJECTS.  MOVE INDOORS IF POSSIBLE.  WHEN

TUCSON WEATHER RADAR INDICATED SOME STRONG THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY ABOUT
20 TO 25 MILES NORTHEAST OF THE GREATER TUCSON AREA...OVER REDINGTON
PASS.  RADAR RETURNS SHOWED THESE STORMS TO BE QUITE STRONG...WITH
SOME VERY HEAVY RAINFALL.

PERSONS TRAVELLING OVER REDINGTON PASS SHOULD BE ALERT TO RAPIDLY RISING
WATER...AND SHOULD STAY OUT OF FLOODED DIPS AND WASHES.  THERE IS A LOT
OF LIGHTNING ASSOCIATED WITH THIS STORM AND PERSONS IN THE AFFECTED AREA
SHOULD STAY IN THEIR VEHICLES IF AT ALL POSSIBLE.
