NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SALT LAKE CITY UT
245 PM MDT THU AUG 9 1990

   ...THUNDERSTORMS BUILDING OVER MUCH OF UTAH THIS AFTERNOON...

THUNDERSTORMS WITH THE POTENTIAL TO PRODUCE VERY STRONG MICROBURST
TYPE WINDS HAVE BEGUN TO FORM OVER MUCH OF THE STATE THIS AFTERNOON.
A GUST TO 44 MILES AN HOUR WAS REPORTED AS A STORM DEVELOPED OVER
CEDAR CITY JUST AFTER 2 PM TODAY.  SOME LIGHT RAIN WAS FALLING WITH
THE STORM...BUT THE MAIN THREAT ACROSS UTAH WILL BE STRONG WINDS.

MICROBURST WINDS ASSOCIATED WITH THE THUNDERSTORMS TEND TO BE VERY
ERRATIC IN DIRECTION AND MAY EXCEED 50 MPH FOR BRIEF PERIODS.

PLEASE TAKE PRECAUTIONS TO SECURE LOOSE OBJECTS AROUND T&HE HOME...
SUCH AS GARBAGE CANS...LAWN FURNITURE...AND BUILDING MATERIALS.
OBJECTS SUCH AS THESE CAN BECOME VERY DANGEROUS IF THEY BECOME
AIRBORNE.
