000 TTAA00 KSLC 272343 SVRSLC UTC035-280030- BULLETIN - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SALT LAKE CITY UT 542 PM MDT THU SEP 27 1990 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SALT LAKE CITY HAS ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 630 PM MDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION...... IN NORTH CENTRAL UTAH ...SALT LAKE COUNTY STRONG THUNDERSTORMS ARE MOVING NORTHWARD OVER THE SALT LAKE VALLEY. RADAR INDICATES THESE THUNDERSTORMS AREA STRONG ENOUGH TO PRODUCE DAMAGING WINDS AND LARGE HAIL. THIS IS A DANGEROUS STORM. IF YOU ARE IN ITS PATH YOU SHOULD PREPARE FOR DAMAGING WIND IN EXCESS OF 55 MPH...LARGE HAIL...AND DEADLY LIGHTNING. PEOPLE OU6TSIDE SHOULD MOVE TO A SHELTER... THUNDERSTORMS HAVE MOVED INTO THE SOUTHERN PORTION OF THE WASATCH FRONT. SO FAR THE MAIN IMPACT OF THE THUNDERSTORMS HAS BEEN TO GENERATE STRONG GUSTY WINDS IN THE PROVO AREA. THE BYU CAMPUS REPORTED GUSTS TO 48 MPH AT ABOUT 435 PM AND WINDS WERE STILL GUSTING TO OVER 30 MPH BY 450 PM. THESE THUNDERSTORMS ARE MOVING SLOWLY TO THE NORTH. THEREFORE THE STRONG GUSTY WINDS...UP TO 50 MPH...WILL LIKELY SPREAD INTO SALT LAKE COUNTY WITHIN HOUR. PEOPLE IN NORTHERN UTAH COUNTY AND SALT LAKE COUNTY SHOULD BE ALERT FOR THESE STRONG WINDS AND SHOULD SECURE ANY LIGHT WEIGHT LOOSE OBJECTS THAT MAY BE BLOWN AROUND.
