SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT COR...MOVEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SAN ANGELO, TX 232 PM CDT SAT AUG 04 1990 TXZ016-017-029-034-018-042030- SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SAN ANGELO TX 227 PM CDT SAT AUG 4 1990 AT 220 PM SAN ANGELO RADAR INDICATED THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS THE SOUTHERN HALF OF THE CONCHO VALLEY. THE STRONGEST STORMS WERE NORTH AND NORTHWEST OF ELDORADO IN SCHLEICHER COUNTY. OTHER THUNDERSTORMS WERE NEAR EDEN IN CONCHO COUNTY, SOUTHWEST OF SONORA IN SUTTON COUNTY, AND SOUTHEAST OF IRRAN IN CROCKETT COUNTY. MOVEMENT WAS TO THE EAST AT 10 MILES AN HOUR. THESE THUNDERSTORMS ARE LIKELY PRODUCING VERY HEAVY RAIN, STRONG WINDS AND DANGEROUS LIGHTING. THE HEAVY RAIN FROM THESE STROMS MAY CAUSE NORALLY DRY CREEKS, ARROYOS, AND LOW WATER CROSSINGS TO BE FILLED WITH RAPIDLY FLOWING WATER. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CROSS LOW WATER CROSSINGS IF WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. KEEP LISTENING TO YOUR NOAA WEATHER RADIO OR YOUR LOCAL RADIO AND TELEVISIONS STATIONS FOR FURTHER WEATHER UPDATES.

STRONGEST THUNDERSTORM WAS LOCATED JUST WEST OF CROSS PLAINS AND WAS MOVING SLOWLY EASTWARD AT 10 TO 15 MPH. HEAVY RAIN...STRONG GUSTY WINDS...CLOUD TO GROUND LIGHTNING...AND POSSIBLE SMALL HAIL CAN BE EXPECTED. REMEMBER...HEAVY RAINS FLOOD ROADS QUICKLY. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DRIVE ACROSS MOVING WATER OF UNKNOWN DEPTH. OTHER THUNDERSTORMS WERE MOVING SOUTHEAST INTO NORTHERN COUNTIES OF THE BIG COUNTRY AREA. THE STORMS WERE IN THE AREA FROM COLEMAN TO SOUTH OF BAIRD TO RISING STAR AND CROSS PLAINS TO NEAR MAY. STRONG GUSTY WIND...SMALL HAIL AND VERY HEAVY RAIN CAN BE EXPECTED NEAR THESE STORMS.
