THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SAN ANGELO HAS ISSUED A
FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL  530 PM CDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES
 
IN  TEXAS
 
   ...EASTERN CROCKETT COUNTY...SCHLEICHER COUNTY...SUTTON COUNTY
 
AT 115 PM CDT THE SHERIFF'S OFFICE IN SONORA REPORTED MANY ROADS
ACROSS SUTTON COUNTY STILL CLOSED BY HIGH WATER. THESE ROADS INCLUDE
HIGHWAYS 189 TO JUNO, 1989 TO THE CAVERNS OF SONORA, 1691 SOUTHEAST OF
SONORA AND 864 TO FT MCKAVETT. HIGHWAYS 2129 FROM SONORA TO ELDORADO
AND 2596 ARE CLOSED IN BOTH SUTTON AND SCHLEICHER COUNTIES. IN
CROCKETT COUNTY HIGHWAY 163 SOUTH OF OZONA IS STILL CLOSED. A LARGE
AREA OF LIGHT TO MODERATE RAIN SHOWERS CONTINUES ACROSS THESE THREE
COUNTIES ADDING TO THE RUNOFF PROBLEM AND THE CHANCE FOR RAIN IS
FORECAST TO CONTINUE THROUGH TONIGHT. LITTLE OR NO MOVEMENT WAS
OBSERVED.
 
ELSEWHERE IN THE CONCHO VALLEY, THUNDERSTORMS WITH VERY HEAVY RAIN
WERE IN KIMBLE COUNTY FROM JUNCTION EAST. AN AREA OF LIGHT RAIN WAS IN
STERLING AND IRION COUNTIES. LITTLE OR NO MOVEMENT WAS OBSERVED. A
FLASH FLOOD WATCH CONTINUES THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON FOR ALL BUT THE
SOUTHEAST CORNER OF THE CONCHO VALLEY.
 
MOST DEATHS IN FLASH FLOODING OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES.  DO NOT
ATTEMPT TO CROSS BRIDGES...DIPS...OR LOW SPOTS IF WATER COVERS
THE ROADWAY.  NEVER TRY TO CROSS A FLOWING STREAM...EVEN A
SMALL ONE...ON FOOT.
