AT 450 PM EDT WEATHER RADAR SHOWED A LINE OF THUNDERSTORMS...SOME WITH VERY HEAVY RAIN...EXTENDING FROM THE YADKINVILLE AREA SOUTHWARD THROUGH JUST WEST OF MOCKSVILLE TO THE CLEVELAND AREA. MOVEMENT TO THE EAST AT ABOUT 20 MPH. WHEN THE STORMS CAME THROUGH NORTHERN IREDELL COUNTY...REPORTS WERE RECEIVED OF TREES DOWN AND SMALL HAIL. THESE STORMS HAVE DECREASED IN INTENSITY IN THE LAST HALF HOUR. NCZ003-004-005-014-092215- SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RALEIGH/DURHAM NC 512 PM EDT SUN SEP 9 1990 THUNDERSTORMS CONTINUING TO MOVE VERY SLOWLY TO THE EAST ACROSS CENTRAL NORTH CAROLINA... AN AREA OF VERY SLOW MOVING THUNDERSTORMS CONTINUED ACROSS PORTION OF THE COASTAL PLAIN AND INTO THE SANDHILLS OF NORTH CAROLINA. AT 5PM THE STRONGEST OF THE THUNDERSTORMS WAS LOCATED OVER LEE COUNTY. NO SEVERE WEATHER HAS BEEN REPORTED OR DETECTED BY RADAR BUT DUE TO THE SLOW MOVEMENT...LOCALLIZED VERY HEAVY RAIN IS POSSIBLE IN SOME OF THESE THUNDERSTORMS WHICH COULD CAUSE SOME FLOODING IN POOR DRAINAGE AREAS. SOME STRONGER THUNDERSTORMS HAVE BEEN OCCURRING ACROSS THE WESTERN PIEDMONT AND SEVERAL COUNTIES HAVE BEEN PUT UNDER A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING DURING THE AFTERNOON.
