NCZ005-008-014-221630- SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RALEIGH NC 1121 AM EDT FRI JUN 22 1990 THUNDERSTORMS MOVING NORTHWARD ACROSS THE SANDHILLS... A CLUSTER OF THUNDERSTORMS MOVED OUT OF CENTRAL SOUTH CAROLINA INTO THE WESTERN PORTION OF THE SANDHILLS AND SOUTHERN PIEDMONT AREAS OF NORTH CAROLINA AROUND MID-MORNING TODAY. AT 1115AM THE STRONGEST OF THE THUNDERSTORMS STRETCHED FROM EASTERN MOORE COUNTY WEST ACROSS CENTRAL MONTGOMERY COUNTY. THIS AREA OF THUNDERSTORMS WAS MOVING NORTH NORTHEAST AROUND 20 MPH. GUSTY WINDS WERE REPORTED IN MOORE COUNTY NEAR THE TOWN OF ADDOR AROUND 11AM THIS MORNING. HOWEVER...NO DAMAGE WAS REPORTED. SOME OF THESE THUNDERSTORMS WILL LIKELY PRODUCE SOME BRIEF GUSTY WINDS...VERY HEAVY RAIN AND POSSIBLY SOME SMALL HAIL AS THEY CONTINUE DRIFTING ACROSS THE WESTERN HALF OF THE SANDHILLS AND POSSIBLY INTO THE SOUTHERN PORTION OF THE NORTHEAST PIEDMONT THROUGH MID-DAY TODAY. MOVEMENT IS TO THE NORTHEAST AT ABOUT 25 MILES AN HOUR. ALONG WITH THE HEAVY...FREQUENT DANGEROUS LIGHTNING...STRONG GUSTY WINDS AND HAIL ARE ALSO POSSIBLE.
