IN SOUTHWEST ARIZONA ...SOUTHEASTERN YUMA COUNTY... FOR SECTIONS OF INTERSTATE 8 AND THE NEARBY TOWNS WELTON...TACNA...DATELAND AND MOHAWK.... AT 345 PM PHOENIX WEATHER RADAR DETECTED VERY STRONG THUNDERSTORMS APPROACHING THE INTERSTATE 8 TOWNS OF DATELAND AND MOHAWK. THESE THUNDERSTORMS ARE MOVING NORTHWEST AT 15 MPH AND HAVE THE POTENTIAL OF PRODUCING DAMAGING WINDS IN EXCESS OF 60 MPH...FOLLOWED BY VERY HEAVY RAIN. IN ADDITION... STRONG WINDS CAN ALSO LEAD TO EXTENSIVE BLOWING DUST DROPPING VISIBILITIES TO NEAR ZERO. MOTORISTS ON INTERSTATE 8... ESPECIALLY THOSE IN HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES SHOULD USE EXTREME CAUTION THE NEXT TWO HOURS. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAUSE DAMAGING WINDS...LARGE HAIL AND DEADLY LIGHTNING. MOVE INSIDE A REINFORCED BUILDING OR STORM SHELTER. GO TO AN INTERIOR ROOM OR HALLWAY ON THE LOWEST FLOOR. STAY AWAY FROM WINDOWS. DRIVING YOUR CAR IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS DURING SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS. PRODUCING HEAVY RAIN SOUTH OF INTERSTATE 8 GENERALLY BETWEEN WELTON
AND GILA BEND.
THESE THUNDERSTORMS WERE MOVING NORTHWEST AT 10 TO 15 MPH... WHICH
WILL CARRY THEM INTO SECTIONS OF INTERSTATE 8 WITHIN THE NEXT 2
HOURS. THE TOWNS OF ROLL... DATELAND... SENTINEL.. AND HYDER COULD
BE AFFECTED BY DENSE BLOWING DUST AND WIND GUSTS TO 50 MPH...
FOLLOWED BY VERY HEAVY RAIN.
MOTORISTS...ESPECIALLY THOSE WITH HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES... SHOULD
