THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH ISSUED EARLIER FOR PARTS OF SOUTH CENTRAL AND SOUTHEAST ARIZONA UNTIL 9 PM REMAINS IN EFFECT...HOWEVER THE COUNTIES OF SANTA CRUZ...WESTERN COCHISE...A EXTREME EASTERN PIMA EAST OF TUCSON HAVE BEEN DROPPED FROM THE WATCH. THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH STILL INCLUDES THE COUNTIES OF MARICOPA...PINAL...WESTERN AND CENTRAL PIMA...AND EXTREME SOUTHEAST GILA. CITIES INCLUDED IN THE WATCH ARE PHOENIX... GILA BEND... CASA GRANDE... GLOBE AND MIAMI...AS WELL AS OTHER SMALLER TOWNS LOCATED IN THE ABOVE COUNTIES. SCATTERED INTENSE THUNDERSTORMS DEVELOPED LATE THIS AFTERNOON IN EXTREME EASTERN PINAL...EASTERN PIMA... AND MOST OF SANTA CRUZ COUNTIES. THE WERE REPORTS OF FLOODING IN SANTA CRUZ AND PIMA COUNTIES... GENERALLY SOUTH OF TUCSON. AT 7PM WEATHER RADARS WERE DETECTING STRONG THUNDERSTORMS NEAR THE GLOBE MIAMI AREA... WEST OF TUCSON... AND ALONG THE MEXICAN BORDER WEST OF NOGALES. THESE THUNDERSTORMS WERE MOVING SLOWLY WEST SOUTHWESTWARD. THE ATMOSPHERE REMAINS VERY UNSTABLE THIS EVENING. STRONG AND INTENSE THUNDERSTORMS CAN REDEVELOP AT ANY TIME IN THE WATCH AREA. VASQUEZ
