TXZ019-20-132130- SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE WICHITA FALLS TX 225 PM CST TUE MAR 13 1990 ...TORNADO WATCH FOR WICHITA AND THE SURROUNDING COUNTIES UNTIL 9PM CST THIS TUESDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING. AT 220 PM CST THUNDERSTORMS WERE RADIDLY DEVELOPING AND INCREASING IN INTENSITY ACROSS WESTERN WICHITA AND WILBARGER COUNTIES. THE STRONGEST THUNDERSTORMS WERE WEST OF BURKBURNETT AND NEAR VERNON. MOVEMENT WAS NORTHEAST AT 35 MPH. A TORNADO WATCH MEANS THAT CONDITIONS ARE FAVORABLE FOR TORNADOES TO DEVELOP IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH AREA. DAMAGING WIND..LARGE HAIL..VERY HEAVY RAIN AND DEADLY LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE WITH THE HEAVIER THUNDER- STORMS. BE ALERT TO CHANGING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND BE PREPARED TO TAKE SHELTER IMMEDIATELY IF A WARNING IS ISSUED OR SEVERE WEATHER IS SIGHTED.
