THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN OKLAHOMA CITY HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL MIDNIGHT CDT
FOR THE FOLLOWING OKLAHOMA LOCATIONS...
 
IN SOUTHEAST OKLAHOMA
 
   ...CHOCTAW COUNTY...PUSHMATAHA COUNTY
 
AT 956 PM RADAR INDICATED AN AREA OF THUNDERSTORMS WITH HEAVY RAIN
FROM JUST NORTHEAST OF STRINGTOWN TO THE RED RIVER SOUTH OF DURANT.
THE AREA OF THUNDERSTORMS WAS MOVING SLOWLY EAST WHILE INDIVIDUAL
THUNDERSTORMS WITHIN THE AREA WERE MOVING NORTHEAST. THESE
TUNDERSTORMS WILL MOVE OVER AREAS OF PUSHMATAHA AND CHOCTAW COUNTIES
THAT HAVE RECEIVED FROM 2 TO 4 INCHES OF RAIN IN THE PAST 24 HOURS.
THE ADDITIONAL HEAVY RAINS WILL RESULT IN FLASH FLOODING.
 
MOST DEATHS IN FLASH FLOODING OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES.  DO NOT
ATTEMPT TO CROSS BRIDGES...DIPS...OR LOW SPOTSc IF WATER COVERS
THE ROADWAY.  NEVER TRY TO CROSS A FLOWING STREAM...EVEN A
SMALL ONE...ON FOOT.
 
A FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT FOR MUCH OF
CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN OKLAHOMA.
