SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SPOKANE, WA 1115 PM PDT TUE JUL 24 1990 WAZ06-IDZ09-250615- SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SPOKANE, WA 11:15 PM PDT TUE JUL 24 1990 A LARGE AREA OF THUNDERSHOWERS ARE MOVING OVER THE INLAND NORTHWEST FROM THE NORTHEAST. HEAVY RAIN IS FALLING IN THE SPOKANE METROPOLITAN AREA RESULTING IN THE BLOCKING OF I-90 AS WELL AS FLOODING AT MOST INTERSECTIONS AND INTO BUILDINGS. LIGHTNING IS ACCOMPANYING THESE HEAVY THUNDERSHOWERS BUT IT IS GENER- ALLY STAYING WITHIN THE CLOUDS THEMSELVES. LIGHTNING THOUGH IS SILL ALWAYS A THREAT. FOR NOW THOUGH AS LONG AS THIS RAIN CONTINUES TO FALL AT THIS HEAVY RATE THERE IS WIDESPREAD URBAN FLOODING IN PROGRESS. IT IS ADVISED TO STAY IN FOR THE REST OF THIS EVENING..BUT IF YOU MUST VENTURE OUT EXPECT INTERSECTIONS AND LOW PORTIONS OF ALL ROADWAYS TO BE FLOODED AND BE VERY CAREFUL IN TRYING TO DRIVE THROUGH THEM.
