NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RADAR HAS INDICATED A RAPID CREATION OF STRONG THUNDERSTORMS IN NORTHEAST MISSISSIPPI AND NORTHWEST ALABAMA. THE HEAVIEST ACTIVITY IN MISSISSIPPI IS CURRENTLY IN CENTRAL ITAWAMBA AND EASTERN CLAY COUNTIES. ALL THESE THUNDERSTORMS ARE MOVING EXTREMELY SLOWLY TO THE SOUTHEAST AT 5 TO 10 MPH. A COMBINATION OF HOT AIR AND MODERATE HUMIDITY WILL BRING THE HEAT INDEX OVER THE WEST HALF OF TENNESSEE INTO THE 105 TO 115 RANGE EACH AFTERNOON THROUGH THE FOURTH OF JULY HOLIDAY. AT 200PM CDT...A TEMPERATURE OF 98 DEGREES AND A RELATIVE HUMIDITY OF 50 PERCENT WAS PRODUCING A HEAT INDEX OF 114 AT MEMPHIS INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT.
