THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD WARNING 
EFFECTIVE UNTIL 145 AM CDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING 
COUNTIES

   IN THE NORTHEAST PART OF NEBRASKA
      PLATTE...MADISON...COLFAX...STANTON

 HEAVY RAINFALL ACCOMPANYING THUNDERSTORMS OVER ALREADY SATURATED
GROUND WILL CAUSE FLOODING OF SMALL STREAMS AND CREEKS AS WELL
AS LOW SPOTS ALONG COUNTRY ROADS AND FLOOD PRONE AREAS IN
COMMUNITIES SUCH AS COLUMBUS.  BE ESPECIALLY ALERT ON HIGHWAY 81
IN PLATTE COUNTY NEAR PLATTE CENTER WHERE SHEEL CREEK WILL LIKELY
FLOW OVER THE ROAD.  ANOTHER FLOOD PRONE AREA WILL BE IN COLFAX
COUNTY NEAR MAPLE CREEK AND ITS TRIBUTARIES.

A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR IS IMMINENT.
MOST FLASH FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES.  DO NOT ATTEMPT TO
CROSS BRIDGES...DIPS...OR LOW SPOTS IF WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY.
NEVER TRY TO CROSS A FLOWING STREAM...EVEN A SMALL ONE...ON FOOT.
TO ESCAPE RISING WATER MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.

BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE
THE DANGERS OF FLOOD WATERS.  IF FLASH FLOODING IS OBSERVED...
ACT QUICKLY.  MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS.  DO
NOT STAY IN AREAS SUBJECT TO FLOODING WHEN WATER BEGINS RISING.

 A FLASH FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR ALL OF NORTHEAST NEBRASKA.
