000 TTAA00 KJAX 222228 SVRJAX FLC031-222330- BULLETIN - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE JACKSONVILLE FL 628 PM EDT SUN APR 22 1990 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN JACKSONVILLE FL HAS ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 730 PM EDT IN NORTHEAST FLORIDA ...DUVAL COUNTY AND ADJACENT COASTAL WATERS OF NORTHEAST FLORIDA AT 627 PM EDT WEATHER RADAR INDICATED A POSSIBLE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM IN DOWNTOWN JACKSONVILLE MOVING SOUTH AT 25 MILES AN HOUR. WHEN THUNDERSTORMS ARE OCCURRING...PEOPLE SHOULD MOVE INSIDE A STRONG BUILDING. DO NOT STAND BY WINDOWS. DON'T USE TELEPHONES OR ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES UNLESS IN AN EMERGENCY UNTIL THE STORM HAS PASSED. MOTORISTS SHOULD NOT DRIVE INTO LOW WATER CROSSINGS. THE STRONGEST WERE SOUTHEAST OF THE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT MOVING SOUTHWEST AT 15 TO 20 MILES AN HOUR. SMALL HAIL WAS REPORTED FROM THE AIRPORT POLICE AT THE AIPORT. WIND GUSTS TO 36 MILES AN HOUR WERE RECORDED AT THE WEATHER OFFICE. THIS THUNDERSTORM WILL BE EFFECTING JACKSONVILLE'S SOUTH AND WEST SIDE FOR THE NEXT HOUR. REMEMBER...MORE PEOPLE ARE KILLED BY LIGHTNING IN FLORIDA THAN ANY OTHER STATE IN THE COUNTRY. WHEN A THUNDERSTORM THREATENS TRY TO GET INSIDE A HOME OR LARGE BUI1LDING.
