MSZALL-082215- SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE JACKSON MS 306 PM CDT SUN JUL 8 1990 ...HEAT INDEX AROUND 110 OVER MUCH OF MISSISSIPPI THIS AFTERNOON AND MONDAY... THE UPPER LEVEL HIGH PRESSURE SYSTEM WHICH HAS BEEN NEARLY STATIONARY OVER THE MID SOUTH HAS RESULTED IN ANOTHER DAY OF UNCOMFORTABLY HOT WEATHER. AT MID AFTERNOON...TEMPERATURES HAD WARMED INTO THE MID TO UPPER 90S STATEWIDE. THE HUMIDITIES HAVE REMAINED HIGH ENOUGH TO PRODUCE A HEAT INDEX BETWEEN 105 AND 110 OVER MUCH OF THE STATE. PEOPLE SHOULD AVOID PROLONGED PERIODS OF UNNECESSARY AND STRESSFUL OUTDOOR ACTIVITY. IF POSSIBLE...WAIT UNTIL A COOLER TIME OF THE DAY. LITTLE CHANGE IS EXPECTED MONDAY. IT IS HIGHLY LIKELY THAT THE HEAT INDEX WILL AGAIN RISE TO AROUND 110 DURING THE LATE AFTERNOON. A LONG RANGE LOOK INTO THE WEEK SHOWS SOME HOPE. THE UPPER LEVEL HIGH WILL BE BREAKING DOWN AROUND THE MIDDLE OF THE WEEK. THIS MAY MEAN A RETURN TO LESS OPPRESSIVE CONDITIONS BY THE END OF THE WEEK.
