AAT 320 PM WEATHER SERVICE RADAR SHOWED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ALONG THE NORTH CAROLINA TENNESSEE BORDER FROM HOT SPRINGS TO MURPHY. THE HEAVIEST STORMS WERE IN GRAHAM AND CHEROKEE COUNTIES BETWEEN ROBBINSVILLE AND MURPHY. THEY WERE MOVING SLOWLY NORTHEAST. THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR VERY STRONG THUNDERSTORMS IN WESTERN NORTH CAOLINA THIS AFTERNOON THAT COULD PRODUCE STRONG GUSTY WINDS..DANGEROUS LIGHTNING AND HEAVY RAIN. BECAUSE OF THE SLOW MOVEMENT OF THE STORMS THE HEAVY RAIN COULD CAUSE SOME MINOR FLOODING. PERSONS ALONG SMALL STREAMS OR IN AREAS SUBJECT TO FLASH FLOODING SHOULD REMAIN ALERT DURING PERIODS OF HEAVY RAIN THIS AFTERNOON. BE PREPARED TO MOVE TO HIGHER @GROUND IF FLOODING SHOULD DEVELOP.
