FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL  345 PM EST
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION...
 
IN SOUTHWEST MICHIGAN
 
   ...WESTERN OTTAWA COUNTY
 
AN ICE JAM HAS FORMED ON THE GRAND RIVER IN ROBINSON TOWNSHIP LOCATED
IN OTTAWA COUNTY...24 MILES NORTHWEST OF GRAND RAPIDS. REPORTS FROM
PERSONS LIVING ON THE GRAND RIVER HAVE INDICATED THAT AN ICE JAM...1/2
MILE WIDE HAS FORMED ACROSS THE ENTIRE GRAND RIVER NEAR 144TH STREET.
THIS IS WERE THE RIVER TAKES A BEND AND THE ICE JAM HAS CAUSED THE
WATER TO BACK UP FOR 2-3 MILES BEHIND THE JAM. ROADS WERE FLOODED AT
LIMBERLOST ROAD AND ROADS ALONG THE RIVER UPSTREAM FROM THAT POINT
NEAR 144TH STREET. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AND PERSONS
LIVING IN THE AREA OF 144TH STREET...AND ESPECIALLY PEOPLE LIVING NEAR
THE GRAND RIVER DOWNSTREAM FROM THIS LOCATION...TO SPRING LAKE SHOULD
SEEK HIGHER GROUND AND PROTECT YOUR LIFE AND PROPERTY. ICE JAMS...WHEN
THEY BREAK LOSE...CAN CAUSE A WALL OF WATER TO RUSH DOWNSTREAM
QUICKLY...ALONG WITH ICE...TREES AND DEBRIS FLOODING LOW LYING AREAS
VERY QUICKLY. ACT QUICKY...FLOODING WILL NOT WAIT ONCE IT BREAKS LOSE.
 
A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS IMMINENT.  IT'S
IMPORTANT TO KNOW WHERE YOU ARE RELATIVE TO STREAMS...RIVERS...OR
CRaEEKS WHICH CAN BECOME KILLERS IN HEAVY RAINS.  CAMPERS SHOULD
AVOID CAMPING ALONG STREAMS OR CREEKS DURING THREATENING RAINS.
