NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE FT WORTH TX
1215 PM CDT THU MAY 31 1990

THERE IS A SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS THIS AFTERNOON... THIS
EVENING AND TONIGHT FOR MOST OF NORTH TEXAS.  THE RISK AREA IS
GENERALLY NORTH AND EAST OF A LINE FROM CHILDRESS TO TEMPLE.  THE
THUNDERSTORMS COULD PRODUCE VERY HEAVY RAIN... LARGE HAIL... DAMAGING
WINDS AND POSSIBLY SMALL TORNADOES.

A WARM FRONT STRETCHED ACROSS NORTH TEXAS FROM SOUTH OF WICHITA FALLS
TO PARIS AND INTO NORTHWEST LOUISIANA NEAR SHREVEPORT.  MEANWHILE...
A COLD UPPER LOW PRESSURE TROUGH WAS MOVING INTO THE WESTERN UNITED
STATES.  THIS UPPER LOW WILL EJECT A SERIES OF DISTURBANCES ACROSS
NORTH TEXAS... THE FIRST OF WHICH IS EXPECTED TO MOVE THROUGH THIS
AFTERNOON AND EVENING.

LOW-LEVEL MOISTURE REMAINS HIGH ACROSS NORTH TEXAS WITH DEWPOINTS IN
THE MIDDLE AND UPPER 70S.  THE ATMOSPHERE IS VERY UNSTABLE WITH LIFTED
INDICES FROM MINUS 8 TO MINUS 10.  AFTERNOON HEATING SHOULD FURTHER
DESTABILIZE THE ATMOSPHERE.

THUNDERSTORMS ALREADY OCCURRING IN EASTERN NORTH TEXAS SHOULD CONTINUE
THIS AFTERNOON WITH FURTHER DEVELOPMENT BEGINNING ALONG THE FRONTAL
BOUNDARY AS THE UPPER DISTURBANCE APPROACHES.

STORM SPOTTERS AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT OFFICIALS ACROSS NORTH TEXAS
SHOULD KEEP ABREAST OF THE LATEST WEATHER CONDITIONS AND BE PREPARED
