AT 920 PM CDT RADAR INDCATED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM 25 MILES WEST OF
MITCHELL NEAR PLANKINTON SOUTH DAKOTA MOVING EAST AT 35 MPH. AT 925 PM
CDT WINDS OF 50 TO 55 MPH WERE REPORTED AT PLANKINTON.
 
IF YOU ARE IN THE PATH OF THIS STORM...YOU SHOULD GET TO A
REINFORCED SHELTER. A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM PRODUCES WINDS IN EXCESS
OF 60 MPH...HAIL 3/4 INCH OR LARGER...DEADLY LIGHTNING...AND HEAVY
RAIN THAT CAN QUICKLY FLOOD A LOW LYING AREA.
 
THUNDERSTORMS CAN AND OCCASIONALLY DO PRODUCE A TORNADO WITH LITTLE

AT 715 PM CDT...THUNDERSTORMS WITH HAIL...STRONG GUSTY WIND AND VERY
HEAVY RAIN WERE IN A 30 MILE WIDE AREA EXTENDING FROM 45 MILES SOUTHEAST
OF PIERRE...NEAR KENNEBEC TO 30 MILES WEST OF HURON.  THE THUNDERSTORMS
WERE MOVING TO THE NORTHEAST AT 35 MILES AN HOUR.  PEOPLE IN THE PATH
OF THESE STORMS SHOULD REMAIN ON THE ALERT FOR CHANGING WEATHER
CONDITIONS.
