FLASH FLOOD WARNING
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DEL RIO TX
415 PM CDT SAT SEP 22 1990

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD WARNING
EFFECTIVE UNTIL 830 PM FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING COUNTY IN

SOUTHCENTRAL TEXAS...VAL VERDE

AT 400 PM CDT RADAR INDICATED THUNDERSTORMS WITH HEAVY RAIN OVER
PORTIONS OF NORTHERN VAL VERDE COUNTY AS WELL AS CROCKETT AND SUTTON
COUNTIES. THESE STORMS CONTINUED TO MOVE TO THE NORTHEAST AROUND 10 
MILES AN HOUR. RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF OVER 2 INCHES WERE COMMON WITH  
THESE STORMS AND THEY CONTINUE TO RAIN OVER THE ALREADY SATURATED   
GROUND IN THE DEVILS RIVER WATERSHED.

HIGHWAYS 163...189 AND FM 1024 REMAIN CLOSED...BUT 277 AND 377 ARE NOW
OPEN.

CAMPERS AND CANOISTS ALONG THE DEVILS AND DRY DEVILS RIVERS SHOULD
MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND. MOST FLASH FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES.
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CROSS BRIDGES...DIPS...OR LOW SPOTS IF WATER COVERS
THE ROAD. NEVER TRY TO CROSS A FLOWING STREAM...EVEN A SMALL ONE...ON
FOOT. TO ESCAPE RISING WATER MOVE UP TO HIGHER GROUND.

REMEMBER...A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS FLOODING IS IMMINENT OR ALREADY
OCCURRING.

...A FLASH FLOOD WATCH IS IN EFFECT FOR VAL VERDE COUNTY THROUGH
