THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN BURLINGTON VT HAS ISSUED A
FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL  500 PM EDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION......
 
IN NORTH CENTRAL VERMONT
 
   ...WASHINGTON COUNTY
 
AT 1150 AM REPORTS OF RISING WATER IN THE WORCESTER AREA OF WASHINGTON
COUNTY WERE RECIEVED BY THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE.
 
THE NORTH BRANCH OF THE WINOOSKI RIVER...SOUTH OF WORCESTER...ALONG
ROUTE 12 WAS RISING RAPIDLY AND WAS VERY CLOSE TO THE HIGHWAY.
 
A BRIDGE ON WESTHILL ROAD...AGAIN IN THE WORCESTER AREA WAS IN DANGER
OF BEING WASHED OUT.
 
THESE PROBLEMS WERE BEING CAUSED FROM HEAVY RUNOFF FROM THE HILLS AND
THIS WILL BE A PROBLEM IN THE MAJORITY OF THE STATE THIS AFTERNOON AND
EVENING.
 
A FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR ALL OF VERMONT THIS AFTERNOON.
 
DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO
CROSS SAFELY. VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE
ABANDONED QUICKLY. YOU SHOULD MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
 
A FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS IMMINENT OR OCCURRING.
MOST FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CROSS
BRIDGES...DIPS...OR LOW SPOTS IF WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. NEVER
TRY TO CROSS A FLOWING STREAM...EVEN A SMALL ONE...ON FOOT. TO
ESCAPE RISING WATER MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
