000 TTAA00 KBHM 072056 SVRBHM ALC015-072145- BULLETIN - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BIRMINGHAM AL 351 PM CDT THU JUN 7 1990 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN BIRMINGHAM HAS ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 445 PM CDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION... IN NORTH ALABAMA ...SOUTHERN CALHOUN COUNTY AT 350 PM WEATHER SERVICE RADAR SHOWED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM NEAR THE CITY OF ANNISTON IN SOUTHERN CALHOUN COUNTY. THIS STORM WAS MOVING SLOWLY TO THE NORTHEAST. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCE DAMAGING WIND IN EXCESS OF 55 MPH...DESTRUCTIVE HAIL...DEADLY LIGHTNING...AND VERY HEAVY RAIN. FOR YOUR PROTECTION MOVE TO AN INTERIOR ROOM ON THE LOWEST FLOOR OF YOUR HOME OR BUSINESS. HEAVY RAINS FLOOD ROADS QUICKLY SO DON'T DRIVE INTO AREAS WHERE WATER COVERS THE ROAD.

ALZ006-007-011-072130- SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BIRMINGHAM AL 335 PM CDT THU JUN 7 1990 STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WERE OVER NORTHEAST AND EAST CENTRAL ALABAMA THIS AFTERNOON. AT 330 PM CDT THE STRONGEST STORMS WERE OVER ETOWAH COUNTY JUST NORTHWEST OF GADSDEN...AND SOUTHERN CALHOUN COUNTY NEAR ANNISTON. OTHER THUNDERSTORMS EXTENDED SOUTH ACROSS CLAY COUNTY AND OVER PARTS OF CHEROKEE AND CLEBURNE COUNTIES. THE THUNDERSTORMS WERE MOVING SLOWLY TO THE NORTHEAST AND BECAUSE OF THE SLOW MOVEMENT WERE LIKELY PRODUCING VERY HEAVY RAINFALL. IN ADDITION...THESE STORMS MAY PRODUCE STRONG GUSTY WINDS AND SOME HAIL. LIGHTNING DETECTION SYSTEMS ALSO INDICATE THEY WERE PRODUCING NUMEROUS CLOUD TO GROUND LIGHTNING STRIKES.
