000 TTAA00 KALB 152206 SVRALB NYC111-152300- BULLETIN - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE ALBANY NY 604 PM EDT SUN JUL 15 1990 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN ALBANY NY HAS ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 700 PM EDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS...... IN SOUTHEAST NEW YORK ...ULSTER COUNTY NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RADAR SHOWED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM NEAR KRUMVILLE ULSTER COUNTY...ABOUT 5 MILES SOUTH OF ASHOKON RESERVOIR. THIS STORM HAS DAMAGING WINDS...TORRENTIAL DOWNPOURS AND VERY FREQUENT CLOUD TO GROUND LIGHTING. IT WAS MOVING NORTH AT 20 MPH AND WILL PASS NEAR WOODSTOCK BY 645 THIS EVENING. SNYDER

THE MOST ACTIVE STORMS WERE BETWEEN NEW PALTZ AND KINGSTON IN ULSTER COUNTY. THEY WILL MOVE INTO DUTCHESS COUNTY...NEAR RED HOOK...BY 420 PM EDT THIS AFTERNOON. OTHER STORMS WERE SCATTERED ACROSS THE SOUTHERN CATSKILLS TO SOUTHERN DUTCHESS AND NORTHERN PUTNAM COUNTIES. THE STORMS WERE MOVING RAPIDLY NORTHEAST...AT 30 MPH...SO THEY SHOULD COME AND GO QUICKLY. THE AIR MASS IS VERY MOIST...AND HEAVY DOWNPOURS ARE LIKELY. WATCH FOR LOCAL FLOODING OF POOR DRAINAGE AREAS...AND SHARPLY RE$DUCED VISIBILITY DUE TO THE HEAVY RAIN. LJM
