NYZ007-008-011-012-018-052100- SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE ALBANY NY 325 PM EDT WED JUL 4 1990 ...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR NORTHEASTERN NEW YORK AND NORTHERN VERMONT... A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH WAS ISSUED FOR NORTHEASTERN NEW YORK AND NORTHERN VERMONT. THE WATCH WAS IN EFFECT FROM 3 O/CLOCK UNTIL 10 O/CLOCK TONIGHT. THE WATCH MEANS THAT WIND IN EXCESS OF 58 MILES AN HOUR AND LARGE HAIL IS POSSIBLE IN SOME OF THE THUNDERSTORMS. AT 315 PM EDT...A LINE OF THUNDERSTORMS WAS FROM NORTHERN ST LAWRENCE COUNTY...NEAR MASSENA...TO CENTRAL ESSEX COUNTY IN NORTHERN VERMONT. MANY OF THE STORMS WERE ASSOCIATED WITH DOWNPOURS...NONE OF THE STORMS APPREARED TO HAVE STRONG WIND OR HAIL. THE STORMS ARE MOVING EAST SOUTHEAST AT ABOUT 20 MILES AN HOUR. IF YOU/RE BOATING...HEAD FOR SHORE AT THE FIRST SIGN OF THREATENING WEATHER. MOTORISTS SHOULD BE PREPARED FOR BLINDING RAIN. IF YOU ENCOUNTER VERY HEAVY RAIN...PULL OVER AND WAIT TIL IT LETS UP BEFORE DRIVING. IT ALMOST GOES WITHOUT SAYING...BUT LIGHTNING IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. IT/S THE NUMBER ONE KILLER IN A THUNDERSTORM. SO DON/T REMAIN OUT OF DOORS IF A THUNDERSTORM THREATENS YOUR AREA. HEMMERICH
