THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN ALBUQUERQUE HAS ISSUED A
SEVERE THUNDERSTORM EFFECTIVE UNTIL 730 PM
AND FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL  930 PM MDT
FOR PEOPLE...
 
IN CENTRAL NEW MEXICO
 
   ...BERNALILLO COUNTY
 
AT 625 PM RADAR INDICATED VERY STRONG THUNDERSTORMS TO THE NORTH OF
ALBUQUERQUE AND OVER THE WEST MESA. THESE THUNDERSTORMS WERE MOVING TO
THE SOUTH AT 10 MPH.
 
NUMEROUS REPORTS OF PEA TO MARBLE SIZE HAIL HAVE BEEN RECEIVED DURING
THE PAST HOUR.  ALSO THE LOCAL RAINFALL NETWORK HAS REPORTED FROM A
QUARTER TO A HALF INCH OF RAIN DURING THE PAST 30 MINUTES.
 
THESE THUNDERSTORMS ARE CAPABLE OF PRODUCING VERY HEAVY RAINS AND
PERSON IN ALBUQUERQUE SHOULD BE ON THE ALERT FOR RAPIDLY RISING WATER
IN THE CITIES ARROYOS FOR THE NEXT 2 TO 3 HOURS.
 
 
IF YOU ARE CAUGHT OUTSIDE...SEEK SHELTER FROM THE WEATHER IN A
STRONG BUILDING.  DAMAGING WIND...LARGE HAIL...VERY HEAVY RAIN...
AND DEADLY LIGHTNING ARE ALL POSSIBLE IN SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS.
STAY INSIDE AWAY FROM WINDOWS UNTIL THE STORM HAS PASSED.
