335 PM PDT THU AUG 10 1989

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE
UNTIL 7 PM PDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE COUNTY OF

CENTRAL INYO

AT 230 PM PDT A HEAVY THUNDERSTORM MOVED THROUGH OLANCHA. THE HEAVY RAIN
WASHED MUD AND DEBRIS INTO CALIFORNIA AQUEDUCT...CAUSING IT TO OVERFLOW
AGAIN. ACCORDING TO THE INDEPENDENCE SHERRIFF THE AQUEDUCT IS GIVING WAY.

EVACUATION HAS BEEN ORDERED FOR THE TOWNS OF OLANCHA AND CARTAGO.

WATER IS RUNNING ACROSS ROADS IN THE AREA. MANY MAJOR ROADS ARE CLOSED
INCLUDING...HIGHWAY 395 SOUTH OF LONE PINE...AS WELL AS ROUTE 190 NEXAR
OLANCHA. HEAVY RAIN CONTINUES TO FALL IN THE AREA AND MORE FLOODING
IS EXPECTED FOR THE NEXT FEW HOURS.

IF YOU ARE IN THE OLANCHA AREA...TAKE NECESSARY ACTION IMMEDIATELY.
