NCEI Storm Data entries that began inside the alert's area while it was in force. Before 2003 the local storm report archive is thin, so this is the record of what happened rather than what was phoned in. Storm Data before 1996 records only tornadoes, thunderstorm wind and hail.

In the hours before

Special weather statement, Jun 22, 3:13 PM CDT, 2 hours 58 minutes before
UPDATED OKLAHOMA THUNDERSTORM OUTLOOK FOR NORTHEAST OKLAHOMA
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TULSA, OK
300 PM CDT THU JUN 22 1989

THIS IS AN UPDATED OKLAHOMA THUNDERSTORM OUTLOOK FOR NORTHEAST OKLAHOMA.
THIS OUTLOOK IS VALID FOR THAT PART OF OKLAHOMA EAST AND NORTH OF A LINE
FROM PONCA CITY TO THE SOUTHWEST CORNER OF PITTSBURG COUNTY TO THE
ARKANSAS STATE LINE EAST OF PAGE. FOR OTHER AREAS IN OKLAHOMA...REFER
TO THE OKLAHOMA THUNDERSTORM OUTLOOK ISSUED AT NOON.

THERE IS A SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN NORTHEAST OKLAHOMA
THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT. THE MOST LIKELY AREA FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORM
DEVELOPMENT IS SOUTHEAST OF A LINE FROM NOWATA TO DRUMRIGHT.

THIS AFTERNOON...A FRONT EXTENDED FROM SOUTHEASTERN KANSAS TO AROUND
TULSA TO NORTH OF WITCHITA FALLS TEXAS. THIS FRONT IS NEARLY STATIONARY
AND THUNDERSTORMS HAVE DEVELOPED ALONG IT THIS AFTERNOON WITH A FEW
APPROACHING SEVERE LEVELS.

MORE THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO FORM ALONG THE FRONT THIS AFTERNOON AND
EVENING IN THE VICINITY OF THE FRONT. THE AIR MASS EAST OF THE FRONT HAS
BECOME MODERATELY UNSTABLE WITH DAYTIME HEATING AND FAIRLY HIGH
SURFACE DEWPOINTS. IN ADDITION...A SERIES OF WEAK UPPER LEVEL TROUGHS
WILL APPROACH OKLAHOMA FROM THE SOUTHWEST THROUGH TONIGHT AND WILL
AID IN DESTABILIZING THE ATMOSPHERE ALONG THE FRONT. THE WIND PROFILE
ACROSS NORTHEAST OKLAHOMA TODAY IS NOT ESPECIALLY FAVORABLE FOR
THE DEVELOPMENT OF WELL ORGANIZED STORMS. THIS WILL LIMIT ANY SEVERE
WEATHER WHICH OCCURS TO LARGE HAIL AND WIND GUSTS OVER 50 MPH.
