SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SHREVEPORT LA
505 PM CDT TUE JUN 13 1989

SEVERE STORM THREAT HAS ENDED OVER THE EAST HALF OF THE ARKLATEX...
WILL REDEVELOP OVER THE WEST HALF THIS EVENING AND SPREAD EAST DURING
THE NIGHT AND WEDNESDAY.  ALSO STORMS ACROSS THE SOUTHEAST SECTIONS OF
THE AREA WILL INCREASE THIS EVENING AND A FEW WILL PRODUCE HEAVY RAINS
AND LOCAL HIGH WIND GUSTS.

ALONG WITH THE THREAT OF SEVERE STORMS DEVELOPING OVER THE WEST...VERY
HEAVY RAINFALL WILL OCCUR AS WELL.

A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH IS IN EFFECT FOR MUCH OF NORTHCENTRAL AND
NORTHEAST TEXAS AND A FLASH FLOOD WATCH IS IN EFFECT OVERNIGHT FOR
THE NORTHWEST HALF OF THE ARKLATEX..MAINLY LATE TONIGHT AND WEDNESDAY
MORNING.

AT 455 PM CDT THE NATIONAL WEATHER RADAR IN SHREVEPORT WAS SHOWING
SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS IN A AREA FROM NEAR GREENVILLE MISSISSIPPI
TO NEAR TALLULAH LOUISIANA TO NORTHWEST OF ALEXANDRIA ACROSS TOLEDO BEND
LAKE THEN SOUTHWEST TO WEST OF LUFKIN. THESE STORMS WERE MOVING NORTH
NORTHEAST AT 20 MPH.

A LARGE AREA OF SHOWERS AND VERY STRONG THUNDERSTORMS CONTINUE TO DEVELOP
OVER THE WESTERN SECTIONS OF NORTHEAST TEXAS INTO NORTHCENTRAL TEXAS.
THESE STORM WERE INCREA,SING AND SPREADING EAST AND SEVERE STORMS AND
HEAVY RAINFALL WILL LIKELY DEVELOP.

ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS WERE DEVELOPING AHEAD OF THE STORM SYSTEM OVER
NORTHEAST TEXAS FROM NEAR LONGVIEW TO NEAR TYLER.
