SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SHREVEPORT LA 415 AM CDT TUE MAY 16 1989 ...SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH REMAINED IN EFFECT FOR PARTS OF NORTHEAST TEXAS UNTIL 6 AM..A FLASH FLOOD WATCH WAS ALSO IN EFFECT FOR PARTS OF NORTHEAST TEXAS TODAY... AT 410 AM CDT THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RADAR IN SHREVEPORT SHOWED A 90 MILE WIDE AREA OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSHOWERS THAT EXTENDED FROM NEAR MENA ARKANSAS TO NEAR GREENVILLE TEXAS. MOVEMENT WAS NORTHEAST NEAR 30 MPH. WITHIN THIS AREA OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WERE LOCATED NEAR CLARKSVILLE AND NEAR PARIS TEXAS. ALSO MODERATE TO HEAVY RAINS WERE OCCURING OVER EXTREME SOUTHEAST OKLAHOMA IN AN AREA WHERE ONE TO TWO INCHES OF RAIN HAVE OCCURRED OVERNIGHT. WARNINGS WILL LIKELY BE REQUIRED WITHIN THE HALF HOUR FOR MC CURTAIN COUNTY OKLAHOMA.
