SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT...CORRECTION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE ELKINS WV 5:45 PM EDT MON JUN 19 1989 NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RADAR SHOWS A CLUSTER OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS OVER NORTHWEST GARRETT COUNTY MARYLAND. AT 5:40 PM EDT THE HEAVIEST SHOWERS WAS WEST OF MCHENRY MARYLAND. THESE STORMS ARE MOVING SLOWLY TO THE NORTHEAST..AND WILL CONTINUE HEAVY RAINFALLS FOR THE NEXT HOUR OR TWO. THE CONTINUED HEAVY RAINFALL MAY CAUSE SOME SMALL STREAMS TO RISE QUICKLY OUT OF THEIR BANKBANKS. THESE STORMS WILL PRODUCE FREQUENT DANGEROUS LIGHTING..AND THEY MAY PRODUCE STRONG GUSTY WINDS. AT 540 PM EDT..CHARLESTON WEATHER RADAR DETECTED A THUNDERSTORM WITH HAIL AND EXTREMELY HEAVY RAIN IN EASTERN CLAY COUNTY IN WEST VIRGINIA. THE STORM WAS MOVING TO THE NORTH AT 25 MPH. VERY HEAVY RAIN...HAIL AND STRONG GUSTY WINDS WILL ACCOMPANY THIS STORM AS IT MOVE NORTH THROUGH EASTERN CLAY AND SOUTH BRAXTON COUNTY DURING THE NEXT HOUR.
