A WARM FRONT ALONG THE CONNECTICUT COAST WILL DRIFT SLOWLY NORTHWARD ACROSS THE AREA THIS EVENING...WITH IT SOME STRONG THUNDERSTORMS HAVE DEVELOPED TO THE NORTH OF PHILADELPHIA...PA. WITH LIGHTER SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WIDELY SCATTERED OVER EASTERN PENNSYLVANIA AND WERE MOVING INTO WESTERN NEW JERSEY. AT THIS TIME IT LOOKS AS IF WE WILL GET THROUGH THE RUSH HOUR IN SOUTHWESTERN CONNECTICUT. HOWEVER AS OF 430 PM THIS AREA OF THUNDERSTORMS WERE MOVING NORTHEAST AT ABOUT 40 MPH. SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT AND RADAR SUMMARY NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NEW YORK NY 530 PM EDT FRI JUN 16 1989 ...DO NOT USE AFTER 7 PM EDT... A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH CONTINUES IN EFFECT FOR SOUTHEASTERN NEW YORK INCLUDING NEW YORK CITY AND LONG ISLAND...AS WELL AS NEW JERSEY... SOUTHWESTERN CONNECTICUT...EASTERN PENNSYLVANIA AND THE ADJACENT COASTAL WATERS UNTIL 10 PM TONIGHT. RADAR SHOWED STRONG THUNDERSTORMS ABOUT 10 MILES SOUTHWEST OF ALLENTOWN AND IN THE VICINITY OF LANCASTER PENNSYLVANIA...AND ABOUT 30 AND 40 MILES SOUTHEAST OF BALTIMORE. THE ONE NEAR ALLENTOWN WILL SOON MOVE INTO HUNTERDON AND WARREN COUNTIES OF NEW JERSEY.
