SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE ST CLOUD MN 1140 AM CDT FRI MAY 29 1989 AT 1130 AM CDT THIS MONDAY MORNING A LARGE THUNDERSTORM WAS MOVING FROM JUST NORTH OF HERMAN MINNESOTA IN SOUTH CENTRAL GRANT COUNTY 0F MINNESOTA...37 MILES WEST NORTHWEST OF ALEXANDRIA MINNESOTA. THIS THUNDERSTORM WAS MOVING TO THE EAST SOUTHEAST AT 40 MPH AND SHOULD ENTER NORTHWESTERN POPE COUNTY NEAR THE CITY OF FARWELL AND LOWRY...15 MILES SOUTHWEST OF ALEXANDRIA AROUND THE NOON HOUR. AS THIS THUNDERSTORM MOVED THROUGH EASTERN SOUTH DAKOTA IT DID PRODUCE HAIL TO MARBLE SIZE AND SURFACE WINDS TO 60 MPH. PERSONS IN NORTHWESTERN POPE COUNTY SHOULD REMAIN ALERT TO THE POSSIBILITY OF SEVERE WEATHER EARLY THIS AFTERNOON. TRIPLETT/YOUNG
