SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT AND RADAR SUMMARY NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE LAKE CHARLES LA 935 PM CDT SAT MAY 13 1989 ...THUNDERSTORMS MOVING THROUGH SOUTHEAST TEXAS...WILL LIKELY EFFECT SOUTHWEST AND CENTRAL LOUISIANA LATER TONIGHT... AT 925PM RADAR SHOWED A BAND ABOUT 18 MILES WIDE OF THUNDERSTORMS.. SOME WITH VERY HEAVY RAIN..STRONG GUSTY WINDS..AND HAIL..WAS MOVING THROUGH SOUTHEAST TEXAS. THE LEADING EDGE EXTENDED FROM JUST EAST OF HOUSTON TO JUST WEST OF JASPER ACROSS THE SOUTH HALF OF TOLEDO BEND. THIS BAND OF THUNDERSTORMS WAS MOVING SOUTHEAST AT ABOUT 20 MPH. THESE THUNDERSTORMS WERE PART OF A LARGE MASS OF RAIN AND THUNDER/ STORMS AT COVERED MOST OF SOUTHEAST TEXAS AND MOVING INTO WEST CENTRAL LOUISIANA. PERSONS THROUGHOUT SOUTHWEST AND CENTRAL LOUISIANA SHOULD WATCH LOCAL WEATHER DEVELOPMENT AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENT OR WARNINGS.
