NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NORTH PLATTE NE
410 PM CDT MON JUL 17 1989

INTENSE THUNDERSTORMS DEVELOPING ACROSS NORTH CENTRAL NEBRASKA AND
APPROACHING SOUTHWEST NEBRASKA THIS AFTERNOON.

AT 400 PM CDT AN INTENSE THUNDERSTORM WAS 10 MILES NORTHWEST OF TRYON
NEBRASKA OR 40 MILES NORTHWEST OF NORTH PLATTE NEBRASKA MOVING
SOUTHEAST AT 30 MILES AN HOUR.

A SECOND INTENSE THUNDERSTORM WAS 5 MILES SOUTH OF MULLEN NEBRASKA OR
45 MILES NORTHWEST OF NORTH PLATTE NEBRASKA ALSO MOVING SOUTHEAST AT
30 MILES AN HOUR.

THESE THUNDERSTORMS ARE PROBABLY PRODUCING SOME HAIL...HEAVY
RAIN...DANGEROUS LIGHTNING AND GUSTY WINDS.

SHORTLY BEFORE 400 PM CDT A FUNNEL CLOUD WAS REPORTED BY THE PUBLIC
10 MILES NORTH OF ARTHUR NEBRASKA.  A SPOTTER WAS SENT TO THE AREA
AND FOUND NO EVIDENCE OF AN TORNADIC ACTIVITY.

HOWEVER...IF YOU LIVE IN NORTH CENTRAL NEBRASKA NEAR ANY OF THE
INTENSE THUNDERSTORMS...STAY ALERT TO THE WEATHER AND BE PREPARED TO
MOVE TO A PLACE OF SHELTER IF THREATENING WEATHER APPROACHES.
