SEVERE WEATHER REPORTS FROM THIS MORNING...

AT AROUND 730 AM...AN INTENSE THUNDERSTORM MOVED THROUGH VICKSBURG
(WARREN COUNTY). WIND DAMAMGE OCCURRED WITH THIS STORM FROM NEAR THE
MISSISSIPPI RIVER JUST SOUTH OF DOWNTOWN VICKSBURG AND TRAVELED EAST-
NORTHEAST THROUGH TOWN. A SURVEY BY THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE AND THE
WARREN COUNTY CIVIL DEFENSE OFFICE REVEALED THAT THE DAMAGE WAS CAUSED BY
A SERIES OF MICROBURSTS FROM THE THUNDERSTORM. A MICROBURST IS A STRONG
WIND THAT DESCENDS FROM THE STORM...AND THEN SPREAD OUT AND WEAKENS.

ABOUT 20 HOMES IN VICKSBURG SUFFERED WIND DAMAGE...MOSTLY FROM FALLEN
TREES. AT A HOSPITAL...14 CARS RECEIVED WINDOW DAMAGE...WHILE ANOTHER 3
CARS WERE BLOWN OVER AND TOTALLED. NUMEROUS SIGNS WERE BLOWN DOWN ACROSS
TOWN. WINDOW PANES AND ROOF DAMAGED OCCURRED AT SEVERAL BUSINESSES. AN
AWNING OVER A SIDEWALK AT A SCHOOL WAS HEAVILY DAMAGED. ESTIMATES OF
WINDSPEEDS RANGED FROM 70 TO 100 MPH.         <

AT 900 AM...ANOTHER MICROBURST PRODUCED WIND DAMAGE IN A SMALL AREA
ABOUT 3 MILES SOUTHEAST OF FLORA IN MADISON COUNTY. ONE MOBILE HOME WAS
DESTROYED...2 HOMES SUFFERED MINOR DAMAGE...AND 2 BUSINESS RECEIVED MAJOR
DAMAGE. REPORT FROM THE MADISON COUNTY CIVIL DEFENSE.

      ...STRONG THUNDERSTORMS HEADED FOR SOUTHWEST MISSISSIPPI...

AT 605 PM...A SCATTERED LINE OF STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WAS LOCATED IN
EASTERN LOUISIANA FROM ABOUT 25 MILES WEST OF PORT GIBSON TO NORTHEAST
OF ALEXANDRIA LOUISIANA. THESE STORMS ARE MOVING AND DEVELOPING EAST-
SOUTHEAST AT 25 MPH. THE ATMOSPHERIC CONDITIONS ARE MOST SUITED AT THIS
TIME FBOR STRONG TO POSSIBLY SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS GENERALLY ALONG AND
WEST OF A PORT GIBSON TO MCCOMB LINE.

A STRONG THUNDERSTORM LOCATED WEST OF PORT GIBSON IS EXPECTED TO MOVE
INTO SOUTHWEST MISSISSIPPI IN JEFFERSON OR ADAMS COUNTY AROUND 700 PM.

AT 630 PM...A SCATTERED LINE OF STRONG THUNDERSTORMS EXTENDED FROM 15
MILES WEST OF PORT GIBSON TO 30 MILES WEST OF NATCHEZ. THE STORMS ARE
MOVING EAST-SOUTHEAST AT 30 MPH AND WILL BE MOVING INTO THE JEFFERSON
COUNTY AROUND 700 PM AND ADAMS COUNTY AROUND 730 PM.

RAIN AND SCATTERED THUNDERSTORNS...SOME HEAVY CONTINUED OVER EXTREME
REASTERN MISSISSIPPI ALONG AND EAST OF INTERSTATE 59. THE RAIN EXTENDS
INTO ALABAMA. THIS AREA IS MOVING EAST AT 20 MPH.
