SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT AND RADAR SUMMARY NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE JACKSON MS 325 PM CDT MON MAY 22 1989 AT 325 PM...SCATTERED STRONG THUNDERSTORMS CONTINUED OVER PORTIONS OF SOUTH MISSISSIPPI...BUT DURING THE PAST HOUR HAD SHIFTED OVER INTO THE SOUTHEASTERN PART OF THE STATE. MOST OF THE ACTIVITY WAS LOCATED BETWEEN COLUMBIA...BAY SPRINGS...AND WAYNESBORO. THE STRONGEST THUNDERSTORM WAS LOCATED BETWEEN SHUBUTA AND WAYNESBORO. ALTHOUGH THE GENERAL AREA OF THUNDERSTORMS HAD SHIFTED EASTWARD... THE MOVEMENT OF INDIVIDUAL CELLS IS TOWARD THE NORTHEAST AT 25 MPH.

LARGE PATCHES OF LIGHT RAIN WITH ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS CONTINUED OVER SOUTHEAST MISSISSIPPI AND SOUTHWEST ALABAMA MAINLY SOUTHEAST OF A MERIDIAN TO HATTIESBURG, MISSISSSIPPI AND BOGALUSA, LOUISIANA LINE. INTENSITIES WERE DECREASING WITH MOVEMENT NORTHEAST AT 25 MILES AN HOUR.
